4. Beginner Smoothies. Smoothies are a great way to get a little extra green nutrition in your diet. To start with, try adding a handful of baby spinach to your favorite smoothie. Or, blend these ingredients (serves 4). To hide your greens in a smoothie, use equal part berries to spinach.
- 2 cup frozen strawberries, slightly thawed
- 1 frozen banana, slightly thawed
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 2 cups loosely packed spinach.

Charity- I made some smoothies today, but they definitely were NOT green. Sorry, didn't have anything green in the house to add to smoothies. We did have some green in our supper though :)
ReplyDeleteCharity, I hadn't thought about adding green to smoothies! What a wonderful idea. I have been making Ryan smoothies for his breakfast...quick, easy, healthy, and I can sneak some fiber into it too:) He even says that it keeps him full until lunch. So my smoothie consists of...1/2 C plain yogurt, 1/2 C 1% milk, 1/2 C 100% orange juice or pineapple juice, 1/3 C each of blueberries-strawberries-rasberries, 1 banana, 1 scoop of fiber supplement and sometimes I add 1/2 of a peach. I prefer to use organic ingredients but that doesn't always fit in our budget:) I will definately try and add the spinach next time!!
