We received some fun stuff from the farm this week, like rose petals and radish pods! Among our herbs, we have cilantro with coriander berries.
Until we started getting them from the CSA farm, I had little experience with fresh herbs. I still don't know very much, but now I know that what we Americans call cilantro is actually the leaves of the coriander plant!
Next I need to learn what to do with these coriander berries. Any ideas?
I've never heard of coriander berries. I have seen a few recipes with coriander seeds. The times I have used them I find I really don't care for the taste. Cilantro goes great in Mexican food.
ReplyDeleteYes, I shouldn't have trouble using the cilantro. I'm just guessing...but I suspect that coriander berries and seeds are the same thing. Perhaps "berries" refers to them in their "green" state while "seeds" refers to them in their dried state. I found a recipe to use the berries in a citrus glaze over sweet potatoes...
